Other miscellaneous explanatory notes:

We had one dog which was Euthanized by Crab Orchard Veterinary Services, 1402 Pisgah Road, Tazewell Virginia 24651. The dog had attacked two individuals and another companion animal (cat) which it had killed. Officers of Richlands Police Department answered the call and was attacked themselves. An Officer had to shoot the dog for self defense. The dog did not die from the gun shot wound. It was transported to the Crab Orchard Veterinary Service for medical treatment. It was determined by the Veterinary Service that the wound was to sever for the dog to recover. The Veterinary service euthanized the dog and the owner was charged for allowing a vicious dog to run at large.

Officers of the Town of Richlands has assisted citizens with nuisance animals (Raccoons, Groundhogs and Opossums) by using live trapping methods and relocating the animals to a forest location away from the population in town. The animals were released back into the wild.
