One companion turtle was stolen from outside holding area. This was reported and investigated.

Other miscellaneous explanatory notes:

We receive hundreds of animals from other localities whose shelters have turned them away, due to "managed intake" policies, as well as from citizens who believe our adoption screening policies are thorough.
304 dogs (221 dogs from Pittsylvania County) were received from other localities.
623 cats (436 cats from Pittsylvania County) were received from other localities.
Localities we received animals from: Eden, NC, Ridgeway, VA, Blanch, NC, Pelham, NC, Martinsville, VA, South Boston, VA, Henry County, VA, Reidsville, NC, Roxboro, NC, Bassett, VA, Gibsonville, NC, Fieldale, VA, Halifax County, VA, Nathalie, VA, Yanceyville, NC, Collinsville, VA, Winston-Salem, NC, and Kentucky

66 dogs and 60 cats came to us from the owner for the purpose of euthanasia.
32 dogs and 193 cats were euthanized either at a veterinary clinic or at the shelter on the advice of a veterinarian.

The rooster was euthanized by a veterinarian and not by shelter staff.
