I responded to Grayson Highlands State Park by request of the U.S. Forest Service in reference to a wild pony that was injured. The Ranger Captain that contacted me advised that she was told the pony had been shot. When I got on scene, I observed the pony limping when it walked. I also observed several open wounds on the back leg of the pony. I took custody of the pony.

*** Column L: Names and addresses of Virginia releasing agencies to which animals were transferred.

N/A

**** Column P: Include other methods of disposition, i.e. escaped, stolen, or otherwise not disposed of in a method in accordance with Virginia code. An explanation is required.

I made contact with the Wilburn Ridge Pony Association, who is responsible for the care of the ponies on Grayson Highlands, and advised them of what I had found. The president of the association, Jerry Ward, came and transported the pony to the vet they use.

Other miscellaneous explanatory notes:

5/31/2024--Pit/Lab mix bit its owner in the face area. The owner called the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, and when we went out to pick the dog up it attempted to attack Deputy D. Johnson multiple times. Dog was put down due to being extremely aggressive.

3 raccoons euthanized this year due to suspected Rabies.
