The Richmond SPCA took physical custody of 25 cats, 33 dogs, and 1 rabbit whose owners were facing a short-term housing crisis or who were fleeing situations of domestic abuse and temporarily residing in shelters. In these cases, the Richmond SPCA provided temporary care to the pets, whose owners intended to return for those pets once they were in a position to do so.

Eleven kittens were born in the shelter.

The majority of cats who died in our care were neonatal or other motherless kittens, who despite intensive medical treatment, were not strong enough to survive.
