Of the 11 dogs taken into custody for other reasons, two were found with their deceased owners, two were with their owners at the time owners were transported by EMS to a medical facility, and seven were with their owners at the time the owners were arrested by law enforcement.

Of the 43 cats taken into custody for other reasons, 29 were born in care, four were found with their deceased owners, and ten were with their owners at the time the owners were arrested by law enforcement.

Other miscellaneous explanatory notes:

Of the 11 cats that died in care, eight were kittens that failed to thrive, two were adult cats suffering from severe injuries and died within minutes of arriving at the shelter, and one cat passed unexpectedly in her sleep.

Of the three dogs that died in care, two passed away due to illness despite receiving medical care as directed by our supervising veterinarian, and one passed away after being seized due to neglect and passed en route to the veterinarian's office.

A total of 62 dogs were euthanized. Of those euthanized, 38 were due to behavioral issues, two were court-ordered, 11 were due to unmanageable/untreatable medical issues, and one was due to time/space constraints. Additionally, as a courtesy to the community, SCAS will allow owners to surrender animals for euthanasia at no cost. In 2025, 10 dogs were euthanized at the owners' request.

A total of 32 cats were euthanized. Of those euthanized, 20 were due to unmanageable/untreatable medical issues, 9 were due to behavioral issues, and three cats were euthanized at the owners' request.
