Other miscellaneous explanatory notes:

Euthanized dog and cats are for end-of-life medical situations only. We primarily take in senior, hospice and special needs dogs, so we tend to have to make end-of-life decisions multiple times a year when there is nothing more medically that can be done to keep the dog comfortable. For our cats, we primarily take in feral/barn cats that can't be handled so most medical issues cannot be treated due to the difficulty of not being able to handle them so often the most humane thing to do for them is euthanize.
